There’s a beautiful new sim in SL devoted to the surreal quality of dreams–fantastic and creative work!! I had a few minutes to visit before crashing–it was discovered quickly on Showcase and there were lots of residents enjoying it as well I’m definitely going back today for a better look!!!

Currency in Second Life

This isn’t about the virtual currency that’s burning a hole in my pocket It’s about the relevancy of Second Life–I’ve visited a model of Abbottabad where Osama was killed in RL, I participated in a virtual Egyptian protest during the Arab Spring and today, I visited a sim dedicated to Occupy Wallstreet.

Amazing!!

The choices seem endless when selecting a viewer for Second Life! A partial list includes Singularity, Ascent, Kirstens, Imprudence, Dolphin, Emergence, Phoenix and Restrained Love. I started with the original SL viewer and I’ve experimented with a number of them including Emerald (now removed from the Second Life directory of Third Party Viewers). I’m currently using Phoenix and I prefer its interface to the SL2 viewer. Just when I was getting comfortable, Mesh comes along. It’s my understanding that current viewers such as Phoenix will display Mesh objects differently. meshenabled_vs_nonmeshenabled

Phoenix offers this explanation. As a result, I’ve downloaded Firestorm and I’m slowly getting used to it. Thankfully, Phoenix has offered this tutorial to help set up your Firestorm viewer to look and behave more like Phoenix and other V1 viewers. Just when I was beginning to understand sculpties, another amazing technology and I’m looking forward to it!

I apologize for the poor graphics…I meet the minimum requirements in SL and had three instances of it running this morning! I popped by a favorite sim today with my two alts. The Cheshire Cat in the background fades in and out, leaving just his smile

Eight years old…can you believe it?? I’ve been there for three years and I’m so glad it continues to thrive and evolve I’ve visited some museums there lately with exhibits from the old SL and it’s been an amazing transition to what we enjoy in our current virtual world! During the birthday celebration, special sims have been set up and I want to share some pics from the one I went to this morning. It’s called ‘Inside Art’ and by right clicking the art piece and selecting ‘sit’, your av becomes part of it!!

I visited a beautiful sim called ‘Daytime Dreams’ and that’s just what it felt like! I found a magnificent waterfall with carved faces on the rocks and spent some time with a unicorn in this fantasy world.

It’s the first day of summer and I couldn’t resist putting on my virtual swim suit and checking out a new underwater sim–beautiful colors and animated jelly fish–the perfect place for beating the heat!

The other pic is from a light show I visited some time back and I’d forgotten it was in my album–it fit with my revitalized mood and brought back happy memories Happy Summer to everyone!
